  • In South Carolina, domestic violence crimes can also be charged as Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature (DVHAN). Additional aggravating factors include extreme indifference to the value of human life, such as using a deadly weapon or committing a first-degree offense of domestic violence while violating an active protective order. DVHAN is a felony crime as well as a violent crime and serious offense.
